Beginner's Guide to SLAYING the Winged Liner - EASY!

The winged liner can be quite tricky. If you have or if you are struggling with it, then this tip will change your life, especially if you have somewhat hooded eyes like mine. The winged liner looks great on any eye shape and can be easily done once you get the hang of it.

Some tips

So the trick is to use TAPE!! It will give you a clean and defined wing. If you're a beginner I would totally recommend working with a Gel liner instead of  a Liquid liner as it will give you much more control. Another great tip is to start with a small amount of product and always start off with a very thin line and gradually build it up to your desired thickness. Another important tip is to have a mirror right in front of you so could really see what you're doing - unfortunately my mirror was a tad bit far away so I couldn't really see what I was doing.

Watch my tutorial below!!

  • First place the tape upwards in an angle from the waterline towards to eyebrow. It's very hard to explain exactly how it is done but you can see the method in my tutorial. This is the most important part as the placement of the tape will determine how the wing will turn out. I like to make my wing to be a bit straight rather than to be in an angle, and therefore I try to place my tape accordingly ( that is, more horizontally)
  • Next step is to create the wing. You can start off with a smaller wing and drag it up if you need a more dramatic look. Try not to extend the wing more than 3/4 of your eyelid - it won't look pretty
  • Once that is done, slowly start dragging the wing towards the MIDDLE of the eyelid. You don't have to do this at once, it can be done slowly.
  • Then create a very thin basic eyeliner from the middle to the inner corner
  • Connect that line to the wing
  • Now start building up the thickness of the wing.
  • The goal is to make the basic eyeliner and the 'wing' as close to a straight line as possible (but NOT an actual straight line) This can be seen in the tutorial from 1:10
  • Once you've achieved the desired length and thickness, slowly remove the tape. If you're using a liquid liner be sure to let it sit there for a few seconds to make sure it is properly dried.
  • Once you take the tape off you can go over with the eyeliner again and fix it up if needed.

That's it!!! It's really hard not to get it right using this method. Do try it out loves!!
